Growing Grounds Technologies was founded by a team that included an active PTO board member who’d spent seasons reconciling payments against a shared spreadsheet by hand, trying to hand a clean report to a board that just wanted to know how much was in the account.

That experience became the starting spec: financial bookkeeping as the foundation, not an afterthought. A platform where reconciliation isn’t a monthly chore, where a volunteer treasurer doesn’t need a bookkeeping background to close the books, and where the tools a board actually uses — payments, communication, volunteer coordination — all report into that same ledger instead of living in four different places.

• Steph Jiencke, co-founder and managing member. Majority owner. Leads outreach and makes sure every school gets a real person on the other end of the line.
• Bryan Jiencke, co-founder and CTO, U.S. Marine veteran. Builds and runs the platform with the discipline you’d expect from a Marine: secure, reliable, no shortcuts.
• Matt Jiencke, co-founder and chief commercial officer. 15 years in enterprise software at Salesforce, IBM and Confluent, and a current Fabra PTO board member.

Fabra Elementary is our first school and our proving ground. This school year, 210 households registered on the Fabra PTO site, up from 66 last year: 3.2 times as many.
